Will you make it?

So this morning I was on a jog with my sister (yay me! Jogging after so may years...a refreshing hell of sorts) and it was very enlightening. Was going along with no headphones and initially we were side by side but as we progressed she left me behind as I was caught with the view of of her back until she disappeared around a corner. I walked, went along my pace until we were in sync again until we hit the bridge and I had this dialog with myself (in my head of course...what do you think I am? Crazy? ...don't answer that).
"Are you tired?"
-yes
"Did you think this would be easy?"
-no
"Will you make it?"
-yes
"Should you sacrifice your knees to catch up?"
-no
"Can you make it?"
-yes
"Is this easy?"
-no
"Will you give up?"
-No
"Will you make it?"
-Yes!
"Is this a race?"
-No.
"Does it matter who is in better shape?"
-No.
"Will you make it?"
-Yes!
"Then keep going."

Yeah, that was my little pep talk but as I caught up I realised how this applies to other areas of life. When we are jogging through life we notice that the people we started out with are either ahead of us, behind or off in other directions. We each are running/walking a different path. Its not important how quickly we arrive that goal or if we beat everyone else. Its more important to enjoy the journey, cheer on those who are progressing along, guide those who seem a bit lost if you can and to reach your destination without sacrificing essential parts of yourself. Keep at it and be persistent. Your goals won't come to you but you will reach them iff you keep going.
