For the love of Murphy!

There are days (even weeks) where you feel that everything that can go wrong does (trust me when I say you aren't alone!). In my case I know I had one car's battery die on me, another one's gear shift cable come undone and to add icing on the cake my iPhone dropped and cracked! These might not seem like major issues to anyone but to me they were (and still are) because I know they cost cash to be corrected. But instead of throwing my hands in the air and allowing my blood pressure to skyrocket (mind you I wasn't completely calm) I started working the problems, pursuing a course of action instead of just tripping the hell out.

For the battery it had to be be jumped so I could drive to get a new one (once I got to the shop the car would not turn on after being switched off so good thing I called first to see if they had it!). The gear shift cable required a short call to my mechanic (so he could tell me it was the gear shift) and luckily a friend of mine who was handy with anything (and he had the tools) made a quick fix to the vehicle to keep the cable in place (I also have the part on order since it was way too expensive to purchase in this country! Which is funny because they are just now talking about a price control commission this week!). The phone I have yet to remedy (since it happened last week) but I called around to see how much it would cost to fix the screen (the prices range from $213 - $360....which is criminal in my opinion! Oh what I would do for a trip to an apple store!). Contemplating purchasing my own screen and having a friend install or pay one of the business $50 to install (only thing is the parts I've seen on amazon have sketchy reviews). The option of mailing it to apple sounds nice but when you consider that any mail out of the Bahamas to the United States is a flat $50 (this is for packages) to begin with and when I import it back into the country I will be charged customs on the repairs done (or if there is someone unscrupulous they will try to charge me for a new iPhone. Not to mention that I will be without my main tool for business for about a week, right now it works but I'd rather have it down for a day than a week). Oh yeah, there is the option of getting an iPhone SE (which is over priced here...very overpriced!). Yeah...I could get a Samsung...but no thank you, just not my cup of coffee/tea. (I forgot to mention that I put a screen protector on my phone so I could keep using it without pulling glass shards out of my fingers...and yes it is only temporary.)

My whole point in this rant is that when life hands you lemons you make lemona....wow, that was almost a Beyonce reference...hows this. When life hands you limes you make switcha (that's the Bahamian word for limeade for all my international readers). On a serious note, when you hit a wall see what your options are and try to remain as calm as possible -- there might be a window or passageway you missed because you got lost in your own misery.

Yes, this is a photo of my cracked iPhone 5 taken by said iPhone 5. Hmmm... Nice hands on my part.
